佛经翻译是中国历史上的第一次翻译高潮。汉魏西晋时期是我国佛经翻译的初创期,经过东晋南北朝的发展,隋唐时进入了佛经翻译的鼎盛期。初期的译经活动规模不大,译经的数量也不多,到了隋唐时期,统治者通过操控佛经翻译,“以达地位宣扬、强化国家统治的目的”(汪娟,1991:4)。朝廷设置组织完备的译场,进行大规模的译经事业,因此这一时期译经的数量和质量都空前绝后:从581年到811年译出的佛典总数达431部,2421卷,分量空前。唐代译场
Sutra Translation is the first translation climax in Chinese history. During the Han, Wei and Jin dynasties, the initial stage of Sutra translation in our country. After the development of Eastern Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties entered the heyday of Sutra translation. In the early period of the Sui and Tang dynasties, the rulers controlled the Sutra translation of the Buddhist scriptures to “promote their position and strengthen the purpose of state rule” (Wang Juan, 1991: 4) . The court set up a well-organized translation field and undertook a large-scale translation business. Therefore, both the quantity and the quality of the translations during this period were unprecedented: the total number of Buddhist texts translated from 581 to 811 reached 431 and 2421 volumes with unprecedented weight.
