十一届全国人大常委会第三十次会议2012年12月28日下午决定,郭声琨为公安部部长。国家主席胡锦涛签署第75号主席令,公布了十一届全国人大常委会第三十次会议通过的这一决定,决定免去孟建柱兼任的公安部部长职务,任命郭声琨为公安部部长。此前,党中央从全国工作大局和公安部领导班子建设的实际出发,决定孟建柱同志不再兼任公安部部长、党委书记职务,郭声琨同志任公安部党委书记,并提名为公安部部长人选,提请全国人大常委会履行法律程序。
