说到记述戏曲作家生平的著作,我们会一下子想到元人钟嗣成的《录鬼簿》。在《录鬼簿》中,收录了元代散曲和杂剧作者一百五十余人,曲目四百余种,对后人研究元曲和元杂剧起到了重要的作用。虽然元代散曲和杂剧在今天视为文学宝库中的奇葩,但在当时,杂剧作家的社会地位并不高,其中大多是不仕的士人和末路的才子,尽管有些作品得以传世,但其作者的生平,世人未必了了,钟嗣成完成于至顺年间的《录鬼簿》可谓是对戏曲史的一个重要贡献。
