Objective To explore the relationship between self-concept, coping style and depression among college students and to investigate the role of coping styles in this relationship. Methods A total of 457 undergraduates were investigated using the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale (TSCS), Coping Style Questionnaire (CSS) and Beck Depression Scale (BDI). Results 1 Self-concept, coping style and depression latitudes were significantly (P <0.01). Regression analysis showed that self-satisfaction (Beta = -0.404, P <0.001), self-identity (Beta = -0.128, P <0.001), immature and mature responses Predictors, the role of immature coping styles in self-concept and depression were partially mediated (P <0.001). Conclusion Self-concept and coping style have significant predictive value on depression. Low self-concept may lead to the application of immature coping style, making the individual more likely to fall into depression.
