It is reported that Japan changed the new method of measuring the boron concentration in well water by directional neutron moisture logging tool to determine the groundwater flow rate and its flow direction. This method overcomes the shortcomings of the conventional methods of determining the velocity and direction of groundwater using electrolyte or radioisotope tracing. This method has been patented in Japan (Patent Nos. 827,136 and 950,353). The downhole part of the whole installation mainly includes a directional neutron moisture logging tool (the two ends of which are connected with plugs) and a filter tube. The uphole part has
