蔡国梁在《文献》1985年第1期上发表了《陈士斌对〈西游记〉人物和情节结构的批评》一文(后改题为《陈批〈西游记〉零拾》,收入蔡国梁论文集《明清小说探幽》,浙江文艺出版社,1985年),主要从人物性格、谋篇设局两个方面对清代陈士斌《西游记》评点中的艺术特征进行了分析论述,使人对其所论述的问题有了一个较为清晰和全面的认识。论文发表后,近十年内,学界并没有异议。笔者最近偶然读到,却发现其立论基础存在根本性的错误,因为蔡国梁文章所用的《西游记》评点本的版本有问题。虽然时隔近十年,仍然有指出的必要。
