敦煌石室藏、汉文遗书中常有“节儿”(rtse—rje)一词出现,属于蕃占时期敦煌(包括瓜、沙、河,湟一线)地区的重要官号之一,为了弄清这个语词的准确含义以及在语义上的来源和发展,作者根据敦煌汉文文书、藏文文书以及同时期的藏文简牍、金石铭刻等文献作文书学上的排比、考察和求证,并与现代藏语的地名、词典中有关词条参照比较,作出结论:一、节儿是藏语rtse-rje的对音。二、为当时一城一地的守官有沙州节儿、西州节儿和于阗节儿等。三、其来源与吐蕃人官府设在山头上,修筑堡寨有关。四、“节”又是截取了汉语“节度使”的部分音义。
