In 1986, Zheng Yongfei, who obtained his master’s degree from Nanjing University, went to Germany to study under Professor J Hoefs, an internationally renowned stable isotope geochemical authority. After receiving his doctorate degree from the University of Göttingen in 1991, he went on to do a postdoctoral research at the University of Tuebingen in Germany. During his stay in Germany, he took part in the key scientific research projects of the German Science Foundation “mineralization in the construction” and “elemental distribution in the geological system”, and made pioneering achievements in many aspects of isotope geochemistry.
