“欢迎总统到中国长城来”1998年6月28日,北京怀柔县境内的慕田峪长城。万里无云,骄阳高照,气温直逼摄氏35度,这是北京地区人夏以来最热的一天。这天下午2时许,应江泽民主席之邀前来访华的美国总统克林顿一行,兴致勃勃地乘索道登上了慕田峪长城。早在这里迎候的外交部礼宾司官员指着一位中年人,对克林顿说:“这位是中国长城学会秘书长董耀会先生,是专程给总统先生介绍长城的。”
“Welcome to the Great Wall of China”. On June 28, 1998, the Great Wall at Mutianyu in Huairou County, Beijing. Cloudless, high-profile sun, temperatures nearly equal to 35 degrees Celsius, which is the hottest summer in Beijing since the summer day. At about 2 pm on this day, U.S. President Bill Clinton and his entourage who came to visit China at the invitation of President Jiang Zemin greeted the Great Wall at Mutianyu by cableway. Officially officiated at a Ministry of Foreign Affairs official at the Protocol Department, pointing to a middle-aged man, he told Clinton: “This is Dong Donghui, secretary-general of the Great Wall Society of China, who made a special trip to introduce the Great Wall to the president.”
