A 37-year-old pregnant patient presented to our cardiology department with severe rheumatic mitral stenosis (valve area 0.7cm2, mean gradient 22m Hg) and chronic atrial fibrillation.We utilized a multidisciplinary approach to manage her care during pregnancy.The team included cardiology, interventional cardiology, anesthesia, hematology (for anticoagulation), and obstetrical staff experienced with caring for patients with heart disease.She was followed very closely by all members of the team with regular team meetings and a full plan in place for pregnancy, labor, delivery and post-partum care.
