The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance formally approved the first batch of technology-based SME technology innovation projects in 2001. This batch of projects involved a total of 267 projects in the six major areas of high-tech industries, supporting a total funding of 1.8697 trillion yuan. In the first batch of projects, there were 92 items in the field of electronic information, accounting for 1/3 of the total number of items, amounting to 61.06 million yuan, 51 items in the field of new materials, support amounting to 35.6 million yuan, and 50 in the area of optical-mechanical-electrical integration.
