Long-term Prosperity of the European Union and the Chinese Market As the two largest markets in the world, the trade relations between China and the EU will benefit each other very much. Since 1978, the trade volume between the EU and China has increased ten-fold. China has become the EU’s third largest non-European country trading partner, while the European Union is also China’s fourth largest trading partner.
