布达佩斯享有“艺术节之城”(Festival City)的美誉,这里每年定期举办的大型艺术节就有八九个,这些艺术节中又以音乐节为多。艺术节短的只有两天,长的则持续两个月;艺术节的组织与运转大都由NGO(非政府组织)来操作,政府相关部门只是挂个名头而已。2001年内的艺术节有:“布达佩斯春季艺术节”(3月16日至4月1日)、“布达佩斯古代音乐论坛”(5月15日至6月16日)、“布达佩斯夏季艺术节”(7月14日至8月31日)、“费伦茨瓦洛什夏季艺术节”
Budapest enjoys a reputation as a “Festival City,” where there are 89 large-scale art festivals held annually, with more festivals in these festivals. There are only two days for the festival and two months for the long festival. The organization and operation of the festival are mostly operated by NGOs (non-governmental organizations), and the relevant departments of the government just hang a name. The art festivals in 2001 include: “Budapest Spring Festival” (March 16-April 1), “Budapest Forum of Ancient Music” (May 15-June 16), Budapest Summer Festival “(July 14-August 31),” Ferenc Cotes Summer Art Festival "
