剪纸艺术新门类曾几何时,李闽已成为中国艺术界、尤其是中国民间剪纸艺术界炙手可热的人物。他创造的一种崭新的剪纸艺术——新写实多层套色剪纸,短短几年,风靡中国并惊走世界。2003年成立的李闽新写实剪纸艺术工作室先后与数省十多个剪纸公司合作,组成了一个以新写实多层剪纸流派为主的产业联合集团,极大的推动了中国剪纸文化产业的发展。李闽新写实剪纸艺术工作室先后创作并制作了大型新写实剪纸艺术系列《人说山西好风光》《江山如此多娇》《众志成城》《伟大的功绩》《红色记忆·庆祝建党90周年》《故乡系列》等,截止2011年9月,李闽工作室已创作出30多个艺术系列、数千个花色品种的新写实剪纸作品。李闽自幼酷爱绘画艺术,为弘扬中华民族传统工艺美术,从学校毕业后,他潜心研究中国画、西洋油画、民间陶艺、石雕、剪纸、摄影等多个艺术门类,并有幸得到国内外多位名家的指点,
