本文通过对中国A股市场股票卖空交易数据的统计分析,发现卖空者能提前预知公司年度公报内容,并制定相应的卖空策略。本文另外发现卖空者对卖空的公司有选择性——卖空者更关注非国有企业;卖空者更倾向高流动性股票。长期来看,年报发布日后的股票收益率与发布之前的股票卖空量有负相关关系:卖空量越多的股票,收益越差。
Through the statistical analysis of the short sales data of China’s A-share market, we find that short-seller can predict the company’s annual communique in advance and formulate the corresponding short-selling strategy. In addition, this article finds that short sellers are selective for short-selling companies - short sellers are more concerned with non-state-owned enterprises; short sellers are more likely to have high liquidity stocks. In the long run, the return on equity after the publication of the annual report has a negative correlation with the short sale of stocks before the release of the report: stocks with the larger sales volume will have worse earnings.
