民国档案是我国档案宝库中的一个重要组成部分。在目前我国所收藏的1949年以前形成的历史档案中,民国档案占着极大的比重,总计约有1000万卷以上。这些民国档案,是民国时期各级国家机构,各党派和社会团体,企业、事业单位以及著名人物从事各项活动的直接记录,反映了整个中华民国这一历史时期的政治、军事、经济、文化教育及社会生活多方面的情况,不仅具有重要的现实查考利用价值,而且具有长远的研究和保存价值,是国家和民族的一份珍贵的文化历史遗产。民国档案的管理工作,有两个基本目的(目标):第一、完整地收藏民国档案,妥善地加以保护,使档案长久地保存下去,世代相传。第二、广泛地提供利用,充分发挥馆藏民国档案的作用,为社会主义各项
Republic of China file archives is an important part of the treasure house. In the historical archives formed before 1949 that were collected in our country, the archives of the Republic of China account for a large proportion, amounting to more than 10 million volumes. These files of the Republic of China were direct records of the activities carried out by state agencies, political parties, social groups, enterprises, institutions and famous personalities at all levels during the Republican period.
