Chih Tu was a pioneer of Xinjiangs agricultural science and technology,the founder of Xinjiangs agricultural education,and the first academician from Xinjiang to join the Chinese Academy of Sciences.In addition to being a distinguished plant pathologist and agriculturist,he was a communist fighter with a strong spirit and a revolutionary sentiment.Deeply influenced by revolutionary ideas and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP),he spent most of his life in the northwest part of China.
