When screening medicinal plants with antimalarial activity, 5 species of Asteraceae and 9 species of Amaryllidaceae were found to exhibit antimalarial activity. The anti-malarial activity of 6 amaryllidaceae alkaloid compounds contained in Amaryllidaceae was discussed.
