Acute hemorrhagic necrotizing pancreatitis model was made by injecting 5% sodium taurocholate-trypsin solution into rat pancreatic duct directly as a strong stimulus. If 48 hours prior to the pancreatic duct pre-given 0.1%, 0.2% or 0.4% of the low concentration of sodium taurocholate trypsin solution as a weak stimulus, can be subsequently given a strong irritant-induced damage greatly reduced, The mortality of the mice was decreased from 100% in the control group to 27%, 17% and 17% respectively. The increase of serum amylase concentration was reduced from 4680U / 100ml serum in the control group to 1990, 2180 and 2710U / 100ml serum. Pancreatic histological examination showed that the lesion was changed from acute hemorrhagic necrotizing pancreatitis to mild acute pancreatitis or to chronic pancreatitis. The results suggest that pretreatment of weak stimuli may make pancreatic exocrine cells produce adaptive cytoprotective effects on subsequent strong stimuli, and the mechanism remains to be explored.
