Over 30 years of reform and opening up, the earth-shaking changes have taken place in China and achievements have attracted worldwide attention. However, it is undeniable that there are also three major problems: First, there is a huge polarization between incomes; second, serious environmental pollution and ecological deterioration; third, moral decline and the spread of money worship. The lack of integrity may be a minor problem in the third big issue above. Confucius once said: “I have no news, I do not know if I can.” Thus I am reminded of my own personal experience. In April 2000, I went to the Central Bank of England for training. In my letter, it was clear that the cost of lodging in a hotel should be half the cost of accommodation provided by both the Chinese and British sides. However, the responsible officials and I all neglected to assume that the other party should fully assume its responsibility. I run myself
