Excerpt from June 24 Taiwan Business Times In recent years, many people regarded cloud computing as a boost to the development of the electronics industry in Taiwan. Although correct, they overlook the two major threats to the industry. One is that the core of the cloud-based enterprise operation model lies in the virtualization of servers, storage devices, applications and operations, thus creating a huge demand for the construction of servers and data centers. But the strength of Taiwan’s electronics industry lies in personal electronic products, not those commercial servers and data centers. Moreover, in this trend, in the future, as long as the network is connected, the past relies on PC computing and storage
