The authors describe the determination of acetyl groups by a specific radioactivity measurement of a compound known to be more acetylated than radioactive C ~ (14) -acetic anhydride. The brief procedure is as follows: The carboxylic acid labeled -C ~ (14) acetic anhydride is first prepared by refluxing with molten C₁₄-acetic acid and acetyl chloride in dry ether for 24 hours.
