Quasi-fixed-language is a type of phrase between a free phrase and a fixed phrase, which is used frequently in daily life. Many word selection problems encountered in translation are related to such phrases. This article regards quasi-fixed-language as the research object and links the misuse of words with cognitive defects. Quasi-fixed-language is constrained by both linguistic and non-linguistic factors, and its cognitive construction is embodied in multiple levels of syntax and semantics. For the traditional teaching mode of translation teaching, cognitive construction based on quasi-fixed-language is a new attempt in translation teaching of Chinese and Western languages. The interpretation and transmission of quasi-fixed-language from a cognitive perspective aims to enable students to better understand the flexibility and restriction of word selection, so as to improve the level of translation teaching and the quality of translation.
