As early as 1910, GE began to develop trade with China. It is one of the most active and influential foreign companies in China. In 1925, GE bought Anderson/Meter Trading Company to provide installation and maintenance services for imported electrical products in China. In 1929, GE invested in Shanghai Power Company. In 1979, GE re-established trade relations with the People’s Republic of China and set up an office in Beijing. Subsequently, in 1984, GE (USA) China Company was established. In 1994, GE (China) Co., Ltd. was established. General Electric (China) Co., Ltd. is an investor in GE’s projects in China and serves GE’s joint ventures and branches in China, including currencies.
