在水上运动十分活跃的日本关岛,除滑水、冲浪、游泳、潜水、风帆之外,人们又把篮球搬到了水上。水上篮球与陆地篮球相比,规则极为相似。比赛双方各出六人。队员可以是男女混合。运动员务乘一个充气橡皮圈在水中比赛。但是,水上篮球的篮板架则分设于水池两岸,篮圈距水面约两米。每场比赛为三局,每局十分钟,场间休息五分钟。男运动员投进一球得一分,而女运动员投进一球则得两分。
In Guam, Japan, where water sports are very active, people move the basketball to water in addition to water-skiing, surfing, swimming, diving and sailing.
