The viability of Pennisetum chinense L. seeds measured by BTB method was 72.08%: the germination rate of pot experiment was between 7% ~ 43% in the tested period: the seed had no dormancy period or short dormancy period: Hi dark seed: The germination rate has a positive correlation with the average daily temperature from sowing to initial germination, and the reasons for the incompatibility between viability and germination rate have been tentatively discussed.
