What do psychologists know about love? They always think they know more than we do. In fact, they are largely professionally limited. Their work has caused them to focus most of their attention on failed relationships, with little regard for happy marriage, which inevitably leads to their incomplete view of love. However, Dr. Janet Reistein is an exception. For nearly a decade, Janet Rebstam worked as a clinical psychologist, psychiatrist and lecturer at the University of Exeter on a study of the lives of sweet lovers. For the upcoming book, “The Secret of Love,” she interviewed over 100 happy and deeply loving couples to find out exactly what makes them so loving.
