《金锁记》是张爱玲的经典作品之一。著名翻译家傅雷称赞其为“文坛最美的收获之一”。《金锁记》呈现出的是一种悲剧美,一方面有赖于张爱玲的出身,她出生于官宦世家,有着良好的启蒙教育,但却生活在动荡的时局中,所以她的作品中总是渗透着悲剧性的韵味,表现着她独有的苍凉。另一方面更为重要的便是文本中卓越的艺术修辞,张爱玲是一位语言大家,她的作品总是长盛不衰,吸引着一代代的年轻人,她对语言的运用总是充满了无限的想象力和创造力,给读者带来新奇的语言感受——陌生感。这种修辞的陌生化使篇章语言鲜活生动,给读者以强烈震撼,满足了读者的审美需求。
