This paper presents the optical design basis and experimental results of a 20-stage digital beam deflector composed of a series of Nitrokel boxes and birefringence lithic prisms. The laser beam is deflected into a two-dimensional picture at 1024 × 1024 and a deflection rate of 500 KHz. The deflection of the deflector itself is 79% for the green laser. Information is also given on the background and resolution of the display and examples of displays using alphanumeric and graphical representations.
