This article is a summary of the report of a visit by a group of members of the Scientific, Cosmic and Technical Committee of the House of Representatives to the scientific and international institutions in Western Europe. The visit lasted from August 23 to September 2, 1987. The main purpose of the visit was to study the experiences of the U.S. European allies in science and technology and to discuss issues of international cooperation and participation in major science projects. They visited the two main accelerators in the Federal Republic of Germany and Switzerland, which are generally considered to be miniaturized versions of the planned U.S. Superconducting Magnetic Field Collision Beam Accelerator - Superconducting Super Collider (SSC) .
