On November 5th, China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) and McDonnell Aircraft Company announced a revised trunkline aircraft cooperation project. The Chinese government plans to manufacture 20 McDonnell Douglas MD-90 passenger aircrafts at home and buy 20 aircraft directly. US-made McDonnell Douglas MD-80 and MD-90 series aircraft. Deputy General Manager of China National Aviation Industry Corporation, Mr. Wang Aung and Chairman of McDonnell Douglas Corporation, John McDonnell, signed the agreement in Washington. The new agreement was revised in 1992. The original trunk line aircraft cooperation project was signed in June and the process of delivering new aircraft to China was accelerated to meet the needs of the Chinese market. The original trunk line aircraft cooperation project included the assembly of 20 McDonnell Douglas’ famous MD-80 aircraft in Shanghai and 20 McDonnell Douglas’ latest MD-90 aircraft. McDonnell Douglas MD-90 aircraft plan has been awarded to the United States.
