由中国南山开发股份有限公司开发经营。1983年开港,1984年5月对外国籍船舶开放。赤湾港区是条件十分优越的海上油田服务基地和重要的深水中转港区。港区面积2.2 平方公里,西半部是商业码头区,东半部是石油后勤供应基地。港池面积56万平方米。 赤湾港区现拥有泊位17个,其中深水泊位6个,最大靠泊能力7.5万吨级,5万吨级集装箱专用泊位1个;赤湾港区油田基地三用泊位7个,商用泊位10个、码头岸线长度2130米。

Chiwan Port is an extremely advantageous offshore oilfield service base and an important deepwater transshipment port. Port area of 2.2 square kilometers, the western half is a commercial dock area, the eastern half of the oil logistics supply base. Harbor pool area 560,000 square meters. Chiwan Port now has 17 berths, of which 6 are deep-water berths, with a maximum berthing capacity of 75,000-ton and 50,000-ton container berths. There are 7 berths at Chiwan Port Oilfield base and 10 berths at commercial berths 10 A, pier shoreline length of 2130 meters.
