A series of “microphiolite rocks” are widely distributed in the ore-bearing beds of Devonian stratabound lead-zinc polymetallic deposits in the Qinling Mountains. They are impure siliceous rocks rich in C, Fe, Mg and Ca. There have been controversies over its causes and generational environment. After studying the spatial distribution, output conditions, mineralization characteristics, petrology and petrochemistry of “microphiolite”, this paper presents the causes of sedimentation and sedimentation (metamorphism) alteration. It is thought to be an iron ore bearing carbonate-carbon siliceous rock formed by submarine hot-spring jet deposition in the Middle Devonian Rift Valley trough, which is formed by later alteration. It has a clear spatio-temporal relationship with lead-zinc mineralization and genetic connection.
