In recent years, the virus has been paid more and more attention as a possible cause of obesity. Human adenovirus-36 (HAd V-36) is a known virus that may have a significant impact on humans. A number of animal experiments and human studies have prompted HAd V-36 can cause obesity. HAd V-36 can enhance adipocyte replication, differentiation and lipid accumulation, increase insulin sensitivity, while reducing adipocyte leptin (leptin) expression and secretion. So far, the mechanism of HAd V-36 infection leading to obesity is not fully understood. Therefore, the research on the relationship between HAd V-36 and obesity and its possible mechanism will now be reviewed.
