野生紫芝醇提液对应激性和幽门结扎型溃疡有明显的保护作用,对乙酸性慢性胃溃疡有促进愈合作用;并可对抗毛果芸香碱的胃液分泌效应,但对消炎痛型溃疡无效;对组织胺释放胃酸作用也无影响。该药防治实验性胃溃疡的作用可能是通过抑制迷走神经的兴奋性及抑制胃酸分泌作用而实现的。
