【9月1日】北京市人民政府宣布，北京将从10月20日起，取消对部分外商投资企业减征或免征土地使用费的优惠政策，以履行中国加入世贸组织的有关承诺。
September 1: The Beijing municipal government announced that, from October 26, the city will stop reducing or exempting fees on land use rights for some foreign-funded enterprises. This is to carry out an obligation assumed by China when it applied to joint the WTO.

September 2: In an agreement it signed in Beijing with the Zhejiang provincial government, the Construction Bank of China promised to extend additional loans of 50 billion yuan in the next three years to medium-sized and small enterprises and private businesses in Zhejiang.

September 5: By the end of 2001, China‘s state-owned assets totaled 1.093 trillion yuan in value, up 10% over the end of the previous year, said Li Chunman, a Finance Ministry official, at the Forum on How to Operate State-owned Assets.

September 5: In the first eight months of this year, China‘s customs taxes totaled 160.8 billion yuan, down 3.3% from the same previous period, said Sheng Guangzu, a deputy director of the State Administration of Customs, at a press briefing. For the whole year, customs taxes are expected to total 240 billion yuan, down slightly from 249.232 billion yuan collected in 2001.

September 8: In a written message to a recent international investment forum, State Councilor Wu Yi said the Chinese government will maintain continuity and stability in its policies relating to foreign investment attraction. China encourages Chinese enterprises to expand abroad as well as foreign businesses to come to invest, she said.

September 9: Preferential treatment accorded to Taiwan investors in the mainland will not change, said Wang Liaoping, a Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation official, at the Sixth China Investment and Trade Fair.

September 19: China‘s GDP in 2002 is expected to exceed 10 trillion yuan, up more than 7% over last year, according to a State Statistical Bureau official. China‘s GDP reached 9.5933 trillion yuan in 2001 to rank sixth in the world. In 1990 China‘s GDP ranked 10th in the world.

September 22: In September China‘s exports may approach US$30 billion in value, another monthly record, a State Administration of Customs official said. Chinese exports in 2002 are expected to grow by 15% over last year, he said.
【9月23日】 中国人民银行官员赖小民宣布，中央银行已作出规定，城市商业银行引进的外资所持股份不能超过城市商业银行注册资本的15%，引进的国内机构投资者所持的股份不能超过城市商业银行总股本的15%，引进的个人投资者所持的股份不能超过城市商业银行总股本的5%。
September 23: The central bank has stipulated that foreign capital in city commercial banks shall not have more than a 15% share of their registered capital, that shares held by domestic investors shall not exceed 15% of the total stock of city commercial banks, and that shares held by private investors shall not exceed 5% of the total stock of city commercial banks, according to an announcement by Lai Xiaomin, a People‘s Bank of China official.
【9月24日】外经贸部公布统计结果：今年1-8月全国新批外商投资企业21470家，同比增长31.36%；合同金额623.07亿美元，同比增长42.42%；实际使用外资金额 344.42亿美元，同比增长 25.52% ；预计今年外商对华实际投资金额将首次突破500亿美元大关，创历年最高记录。
September 24: The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation published the following figures: in the first eight months of this year, China approved a total of 21,470 new foreign investment projects, up 31.36% over the same previous period; these involve a combined contractual investment of US$62.307 billion, up 42.42%; foreign investment actually realized during the period reached US$34.442 billion, up 25.52%; foreign investment in China being realized for the whole year is to exceed US$50 billion, an all-time record.
【9月27日】深圳发展银行发布公告说，有关部门已批准，同意美国新桥投资集团公司作为国外战略投资者进入该行。这是中国国内银行首次正式披露引进国外战略投资者。
September 27: Shenzhen Development Bank announced that, with approval from relevant authorities, Newbridge Investment Group Co. of the United States has joined the bank as an overseas strategic investor. This is the first time a domestic bank revealed to have paired with a foreign strategic investor.
【9月27日】中国保险监督管理委员会批准美国信诺保险公司在中国筹建合资寿险公司。这是中国加入世贸组织后第一家获准筹建的中外合资寿险公司。
September 27: China Insurance Supervisory Commission has approved CIGNA, a US insurance firm, to establish a joint venture life insurance company in China. CIGNA is the first foreign insurance company to have won the right to establish a joint venture life insurance firm in China after China joined the WTO.
