引黄济青输水河工程自沉沙池出口闸开始,沿途经山东省惠民、东营、潍坊、青岛等三市一地的博兴、广饶、寿光、寒亭、昌邑、高密、平度、胶州和即墨等九个县(市、区),至棘洪滩泵站提水入棘洪滩水库,全长252.845公里,其中新开河渠193.078公里,扩建原打渔张一干18.145公里,利用小清河分洪道子槽35.972公里和吴沟河5.65公里,衬砌河段总长度206.99公里,是“七五”期间的重点工程建设项目.1986年4月动工
