Orlando: A Biography is a distinctive historical biographical novel by Virginia Woolf. His works are based on the form and style of biographies, based on the real historical materials and life of the characters. However, the “fictionalization” is organically integrated into “documentary” and the boundaries between biographies and novels are blurred. It is an innovation of biography creation. At the same time, the works also imitate biographies, display and comment on biographical creations, reveal the limitations of traditional biographical creations, and thus bring the self-reflection of metafiction. In addition, “Orlando” uses joking means to question the “truth” of biography and history as well as the causal interpretation of history, so as to make history narrative and narrative. Therefore, “Orlando” can be regarded as the interplay between biography, novel and history, and the result of mutual inclusion is the sonata of these few voices. All of this makes Orlando bring the postmodernist narrative features and reflects Woolf’s foresight in his creative concept.
