中学语文教材中的科普作品承担着向学生普及科学知识和提高学生的语文水平的双重任务。而前者正是通过后者来实现的,也就是说,这类作品是寓科学知识于生动形象的语言艺术之中,让学生在娓娓动听的叙述和说明之中获得科学知识,同时得到语言和文学的美的享受,提高语文表达能力,所以说科普作品是自然科学与语言艺术的统一。现行中学语文教材中不乏这样的佳作。
