The term “self-improvement” originated from the Gua’s words of “stem” in the Book of Changes: “Tian Xingjian, a gentleman with self-improvement.” That is, people should have the same perseverance and never-ending quality like the sky. The spirit of unremitting self-reliance and strengthening of the Chinese nation is the sum-up of the experience of the 5,000-year history of the Chinese nation. In their struggle against the harsh natural environment and unjust social environment, the ancestors of the Chinese nation gradually formed unswerving and positive spiritual outlook and unite them into a national spirit of “self-reliance”
