《怒吼》(见右图)这件根艺作品的原始根料是我在筑路工地上偶然发现的,当时我就觉得此根料形态非常奇特,是难寻难遇的佳品,便将它带回了家。在创作时,我从不同的角度反复地审视这个根料,推敲、揣摩、构思良久,那些自然生成的纹理、曲线、疤节连接交错、扭曲盘缠,在我眼前逐渐凸现出一只愤怒的雄狮形象,脑海中也立刻浮现出千姿百态的雄狮大声吼叫、山岳回响的王者之风。进行局部处理时,我尽量保持根料原形,删截余部,根料的前部酷似雄狮头部,使我油然而生一股强烈的创作欲望。但是,如何在天工造化的基础上,既取自然狮子的动势,又表现自然根材之野趣呢?这个根料特殊,我揣摩了很久才动手施艺,操作中遇到的情况也很复杂,尤其是去皮、剔朽两道工序,为避免刮刀对根料天然纹理的破坏,我采用最简捷的浸泡方法进行脱皮处理,这个方法效果显著。经去皮、清污、除垢、剔朽之后,只见雄狮全身纹理清晰,明净和谐。自

Complex, especially the peeled, tick rotten two processes, in order to avoid the scraper on the root of the natural texture damage, I use the most simple method of soaking peeling, the effect of this method is significant.
