On August 14, the China Steel Association (CISA) announced that it has reached an iron ore price agreement with FMG, Australia’s third-largest iron ore exporter. This has caused widespread concern. For a long time, it has become a heartache for Chinese enterprises to repeatedly defeat their voices in the fight for the right to speak of international commodity prices. As the largest importer of iron ore in the world, China has been aggressively keeping its suppliers’ prices under pressure each year, but the result was a frenzied price hike. Iron ore price increase in 2005 was 71%, compared with 19% in 2006, 9.5% in 2007 and 96% in 2008.
