张德信先生编纂的《明代职官年表》与陈垣著《二十史朔闰表》、郑鹤声编《近世中西史日对照表》、翦伯赞主编《中外历史年表》和钱实甫编纂的《清代职官年表》等堪称20世纪以来的重要历史工具书。本文简要介绍了《明代职官年表》的编纂义例、主要内容及其学术价值,认为该年表编纂义例继承《明史》职官志例和其他年表的优点,以《明实录》、《国榷》、《明史》等书为基本文献,参证官私史书、政书、文集、笔记以及地方志等几百种材料,以时间坐标为序,将明代中央机构主要职官情况标注出来,不仅复原和解构了明代职官体系的基本轮廓和运行体系,纠正了官修史书记载的疏漏错讹,填补了明代职官研究的学术空白,而且还为全面认识和评估明代职官制度提供了科学根据,因此具有重要学术研究价值和意义。
