A ditch dug for agricultural irrigation near the viaduct section of the Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Railway was tested and analyzed on the ground vibration isolation effect caused by the operation of CRH EMUs. The results show that as the train speed decreases, the peak vertical vibration velocity of the ground decreases, and the vertical frequency of the ground surface increases. The ditches have a low-pass filter effect on the ground vibration. The slower the speed, the better the vibration isolation effect. However, the phenomenon that the vibration of the ground before the ditch becomes larger becomes more obvious. When the length of the ditch is much larger than the length of the train, the number of train cars has little effect on the isolation effect of the ditch. It is proposed that the construction of the railway should be coordinated with the local residents and the agricultural sector so that the length, depth and width of the ditch as well as the distance from the orbit can be properly designed so that the ditch can not only meet the needs of agricultural irrigation but also play a very good role Vibration isolation effect.
