粳稻三系制种的成功,给水稻进一步提高产量,开辟了新的途径。七七年我地区几个点试种了杂交稻近百亩,都取得了不同程度的增产效果。但由于种子来的晚,播种、插秧期都迟,同时又没有掌握杂交稻的特性,缺乏栽培经验,所以未能充分发挥其增产潜力。而通过一年间的试种,初步看到了现有的丰锦、雷迈、京引177、早丰等几个杂交组合,都具有苗壮、根旺、秆粗、穗大、粒多、叶厚、不早衰等生长优势,但也存在一定弱点,即分蘖力
