兰生集团整合了下属企业中的兰生股份、医药保健品公司、轻工国际集团、五矿公司、畜产集团、包装公司等一些历史悠久的专业外贸公司以及一些新建的外贸企业。出口产品涵盖整个轻工行业。年进出口规模可达13亿多美元,是全国规模最大的轻工业品进出口企业。同时,集团近年来加快发展物流产业,货代业务得到快速增长,并控股上海最大的地方航运企业锦江航运公司,初步形成了支撑外贸出口的物流板块。
