陈嵘教授是我国著名林学家、教育家,林学著作甚丰,是我国现代林业科学的开拓者。解放前曾任第一届中华农学会会长兼总干事长,并长期担任金陵大学教授、系主任等职。解放后不久,即被选为中华全国科学技术普及协会林学组主任委员,以后任林垦部中央林业研究所所长,中国林学会第一、二、三届副理事长,第三届代理事长,并长期担任中国林学会学术刊物《林业科学》主编,九三学社中央科技文教委员会委员。1960年当选为全国政协第三届委员。 1988年3月2日是已故陈嵘教授百年诞辰。为了学习陈嵘教授热爱党热爱祖国,一生为祖国林业科学事业献身的崇高品德,中国林学会决定开展纪念陈嵘教授百年诞辰的活动。为此,本刊特请中国林学会理事长、《林业科学》主编、中国科学院学部委员、著名林学家吴中伦教授和树木学家洪涛研究员分别撰写文章,以资纪念。
Professor Chen Rong is a famous forest scientist, educator and author of a great collection of forest science in China. He is a pioneer of modern forestry science in China. Before the liberation, he served as president and director general of the first Chinese Agricultural Association and was a professor and director of Jinling University for a long time. Shortly after the liberation, he was elected as chairman of the Forest Science Group of All-China Association of Science and Technology Popularization and later served as director of the Central Forestry Research Institute of Lin Ken for the first, second and third sessions of the Chinese Society of Forestry, the third acting director Long, and has long served as China Forestry Association academic journal “Forestry Science” editor, Jiu San Society of Central Science and Technology Committee members. In 1960, he was elected as the third member of the CPPCC National Committee. March 2, 1988 is the late Professor Chen Rong hundred years birthday. In order to learn Professor Chen Rong’s passion for the party’s devotion to the motherland and the lifelong dedication of his forestry science career, the Chinese Academy of Forestry decided to hold a commemoration of Professor Chen Rong’s centenary birthday. To this end, we specifically invite the chairman of the Chinese Society of Forestry, “forestry science” editor, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, a famous forestry professor Wu Zhonglun and tree researcher Hong Tao researchers wrote articles in order to commemorate.
