《善良的乡下人》是美国女性作家弗兰纳里·奥康纳最具影响力的短篇作品之一。作家以平凡的小人物为审视对象,通过她们被愚弄的过程,揭露了那些自以为是、虚伪者的渺小与丑陋。与奥康纳的其他作品一样,暴力元素在《善良的乡下人》中一以贯之。作者在情节发展的高潮,将其和盘托出,带给读者以强烈的心灵震撼。本文从暴力的恐惧、暴力与生活本质,暴力的毁灭性与重建意义三方面,分析了《善良的乡下人》中所体现的奥康纳的暴力美学。
“Good countryman” is one of the most influential short stories by American female writer Flannery O’Connor. The writer, taking ordinary people as the object of investigation, reveals the insignificance and ugliness of self-righteous and hypocritical people through the process of being fooled by them. As with all of O’Connor’s other works, the element of violence is consistent throughout the “good countryman.” The climax of the development of the plot, the author put it out to bring the reader a strong spiritual shock. This article analyzes O’Connor ’s aesthetics of violence from three aspects: the fear of violence, the essence of violence and life, the devastating violence and the significance of reconstruction.
