The South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, formally entered the Pilot Sequence of Knowledge Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on February 5, 2002, marking a new stage of development for the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography in the new century. Since the founding of the South China Sea Institute of Marine Science and Technology for the past three years, it has made great contributions to the development of the theoretical system of tropical marine science in China and to the scientific and technological needs of the state in respect of resources and environmental rights and interests in the South China Sea.
