The basic meanings of afforestation are described, the similarities and differences between several views and practices are compared, and the practices and effects of afforestation design are introduced according to the examples in the United States and Japan. The design of afforestation design should be taken into consideration of the characteristics of territorial environment and the recent development trend of afforestation.
